Ways to travel to and from Altonlea Lodge

Altonlea Lodge is located at 19 The Green, Seaton Carew, Hartlepool.

By Car

Seaton Carew is located just to the south of the town of Hartlepool. You can get here using your SatNav using our postcode TS25 1AT.

For parking, Seaton Carew has reasonably priced on street parking along the front. If you wish to park outside Altonlea Lodge you will need an electronic permit that we can issue, but have only three (first come basis). We also have a large lockup carpark at the rear of the house that you can access from Victoria Street (TS25 1AY) down the second left turn.

At this moment we do not offer EV charging but there is a station located in the main carpark on the sea front with more points planned in the future.


Hartlepool Bus service

You can travel to Hartlepool from any town or city in the UK serviced by the National Express coach service.

Once you’re here and wish to travel around the town, hartlepool and its surrounding towns and villages are connected through the Stagecoach service. Seaton Carew is connected to hartlepool by the Number 1 service which also continues through to Middlesbrough. While you’re staying at Altonlea Lodge you can catch the Number 1 in either direction from the main road which runs past The Green.

Connect Tees Valley is a great website to find a range of different ways to get around the town. They have a map of the town centre with all the bus services available.

Train services

Seaton Carew has a ‘platform’ station offering connection through the Northern Rail network to other towns and cities through the North East of England, many of which are highly rated for their levels of service. Please keep in mind that you cannot buy your ticket from the platform.

A short journey into Hartlepool you’ll find the town’s Train station, it’s just one stop along the line from Seaton Carew and is our main station with many more trains serving it. At one point Hartlepool station had the dubious title of the busiest single platform station in the country but that will be changing in 2022/23 with the huge investment by the combined Tees Valley authority to add a second platform and renovate the existing site. Other stations in our region are also being upgraded.

Grand Central is a national rail service that connects London Kings Cross station direct to Hartlepool – within about 3 hours you can leave London behind and find yourself looking at the sea.

Once you’re here in Hartlepool you can use our two stations (Seaton:10 minute walk or 1 minute drive or Hartlepool:45 minute walk or 5 minute drive) to connect to the whole north east through the Northern Rail network and explore the rich North East culture and history.


Traveling by Air

Durham Tees Valley Airport was recently saved from closure and development into a huge housing site by our Teesside Mayor, Ben Hutchen who secured investment and has turned the airport round with new flights and services. As part of the investment the name of the Airport was changed back to Teesside International Airport and has become a major transport hub for our region. Teesside airport is about 30 minute drive (20 miles) away from Altonlea Lodge by car.

North of Newcastle city centre is Newcastle International Airport which has multiple flights throughout the day to most airports in the UK and beyond. Newcastle is about one hour north drive from Altonlea Lodge.


Taxi services

Hartlepool has been found to have some of the cheapest taxi fares in the UK! Yet you will find the service offered by which ever firm you choose to be of the highest quality and professionalism.

We have found Twenty3 taxis to be the most reliable but guests have commented that all the companies are just as good. They offer a range of vehicles and mini-busses with accessibility options by request. Below is a list of the films that you may want try out during your stay.

One word of advice: Hartlepool residents make extensive use of all the towns taxies, especially over the weekend. If you are planning your evening around a taxi ride we highly recccoment booking ahead.
